Description

The Freediver level or Level 1, as it is called by most training organizations, is the basic training in all aspects of freediving, such as technique, physiology, equipment, environment and safety measures, for a person to learn to freedive, as an amateur, up to 10 meters depth.

For practical reasons, but also due to an old tradition, diving training levels, have been described based on the depth, to which they prepare you to be able to dive and certify that, up to that point, you have the necessary knowledge and skills to organize dives.

The purpose of the Freediver level, of this very important package of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the water, is to enable a person, as a freediver, to organize his freedives, correctly and safely, in the open sea.

Ten meters deep is simply a limit where a person will learn to be able to dive, comfortably, with good technique and with a good apnea duration, so that he can remain at least for a short time at that depth.

The performance that the graduate Freediver will achieve in the pool is at least 1,5 minutes in static apnea and 25 meters in dynamic apnea.

Some training organizations also have a very useful introductory level (before the Freediver level) for the completely new amateur in freediving. The PADI organization, for example, calls it Basic Freediver and in this, the new diver receives a very good first theoretical training and begins learning the technique in very shallow waters up to 5 meters deep, in a protected environment for the beginner (in a pool or on the shore) and not in the open sea.

It is a level that instructors find very useful, because it prepares new divers in learning ear equations, in using the wet-suit and regulating buoyancy, in surface swimming, but also in static and dynamic apnea.
